The user can send it another message and resume it, so the same task-id may notify more than once.</note> <result>## Review of 53430d0 (`step2/seal-and-secrets`) Tests, vet, gofmt and `go mod tidy` are all clean at the exact commit (verified from a `git archive` copy; the checkout's `go test ./...` failure is untracked Task 2 work — `noaddress_test.go`, `models.go`, etc. — not this commit). The guard was re-broken and fires. Now the findings. ### BLOCKING **B1. `cmd/home/main.go:25-26` — "It still opens no database handle. The --db path is validated here and passed to rastrillo" — false at source.** `rastrillo.Serve` → `Handler` does `if opts.DBPath != "" { db, err = OpenDB(opts.DBPath, opts.Migrations) }` (rastrillo v0.22.0 `serve.go:347-348`), and `OpenDB` (`serve.go:573`) opens `sql.Open("sqlite", path+"?_pragma=busy_timeout(5000)&_pragma=journal_mode(WAL)")` and `Ping`s so the file materialises on disk. Since this commit *requires* `DBPath` to be non-empty and never blanks it, the binary now always opens a database handle — through rastrillo, in WAL mode, with no `secure_delete`. The old `main.go` doc quoted exactly that line of `serve.go` to explain why it opened nothing; the commit deleted that explanation and asserted the opposite. The commit message's deviation 3 ("Task 1 wires no database handle") is false in effect for the same reason. Fix: either blank `opts.DBPath` before `Serve` (the plan's Task 2 shape, line 434: "blank `DBPath` before `Serve`, because `Serve` would otherwise open a second handle") or state that rastrillo opens it. **B2. `cmd/home/main.go:17-19`, `internal/home/keys.go:101-107`, commit message "CONSEQUENCE" — the `--db` refusal cannot be satisfied in the mode the home runs in.** AGENTS.md:328 and spec:215: "The home does not hibernate." A non-hibernating app is a unit tenant: `carlos-app@.service` is `ExecStart=/opt/carlos/live/%i serve` with **no flags** (platform `internal/host/units/carlos-app@.service:42`; "Apps needing different arguments override ExecStart via a drop-in"). Only the hibernate exec child gets `--socket <s> --db <d>` (`backend_exec.go:370,691`) — that is why Sheets' shape works and the home's does not. `main.go` passes `rastrillo.Options{Logger: logger}` with no `DBPath`, so on the platform `opts.DBPath == ""` and `LoadSecrets` refuses every boot with "pass --db". The claim at `keys.go:101` "Resolve sets DBPath only from -db" is true but incomplete: `resolveInvocation` also honours a pre-set `Options.DBPath` and resolves a relative one into `$STATE_DIRECTORY` (`run.go:88-92`) — that is the mechanism the home needs (`Options{DBPath: "home.db"}`), and this commit does not use it. "A deploy must provision ... a --db path" is not something `carlos` can provision. **B3. `cmd/home/main.go:22-23` and commit message — "Until then the previous build is what serves" is only true if nobody deploys.** The unit has `Restart=always`; the activator deliberately does not notice unit crashes ("a unit wedged past its start rate limit looks awake ... the edge's dials 502 meanwhile — operator territory", `backend_unit.go:209-216`). A `carlos deploy` of this build without secrets (or, per B2, with them) cycles the process into a binary that exits 1, systemd spins it, and `https://oficina.works` 502s until a `carlos rollback`. AGENTS.md:327 ("Until the process cycles, the old binary serves") describes a *promote*, not a deploy. Nothing in `.amadan/ci.d` auto-deploys, so merging is safe; the sentence should say that, not imply a failed boot leaves the old build serving. **B4. `internal/home/keys.go` — an all-zero key passes every loader.** `HOME_SIGNIN_KEY=AAAA…=` (32 zero bytes) boots (verified: `err=<nil> signinKeyZero=true`), and `signin` then returns `ErrNoKey` on every `Begin`/`Complete` (`pending.go:41,56`) — "an app that answers /healthz perfectly well and is broken", the exact failure `keys.go:19-22` says the file exists to prevent. `keys.go:40-41` ("Flow refuses a zero one with ErrNoKey") is true but the refusal is per request, not at construction — the loader is the only place it can be a boot refusal. The same applies to a zero DEK/pepper (cryptographically fine but the canonical placeholder). `TestLoadSecretsAcceptsCompleteConfig` checks `SigninKey != zero` on `b64(32)`, which cannot fail; no test feeds a zero value. **B5. `internal/home/app.go:31-35` — "there is no zero-value escape hatch: an App without a Sealer would seal nothing" — false.** `New(Secrets{})` compiles and runs (verified). Passing by value guarantees a zero value *exists*; nothing checks `secrets.Sealer != nil`. Either refuse in `New` or reword. **B6. `internal/home/seal/seal.go:9-11` and `seal_test.go:37-38` — "these are adjacent columns of the same row" — false for the home.** Sheets' `cell.input`/`cell.cached` are adjacent columns; the home's three purposes live in three tables — `signin_links`, `teams`, `provisioning_queue` (spec §10). The plan supplied the sentence verbatim; the port carried Sheets' schema fact into a schema that does not have it. ### NIT - `keys.go:156` error text says "magic links would be written to the log instead of emailed" for a missing `CARLOS_SMTP_PASS`, contradicting `keys.go:137-139` directly above ("a different failure ... for a different reason"). With HOST/FROM set, `FromEnv` returns the SMTP sender regardless of PASS. Also `PASS` is inert unless `CARLOS_SMTP_USER` is set (`mail.go:60-62`, verified: `no USER err=<nil> mailer=*mail.smtpSender`); on the platform `carlos email enable` delivers `*_SMTP_USER` alongside, so refusing on PASS alone is defensible, but the comment's stated reason does not hold without USER. - `keys.go:16-17` "Building it is the only place these variable names appear" — `LoadSealer` (`keys.go:53-58`) reads `HOME_DEK` separately and `LoadSecrets` duplicates it rather than calling it. Production never calls `LoadSealer`. - `keys.go:85` "the two settings whose absence is silent" — there are three (HOST, FROM, dbPath). - `main.go:56-57` / commit message: "no --db and SQLite opens a private temporary database" — at this commit an empty `DBPath` means rastrillo opens nothing (`serve.go:347`); accurate only once Task 2 calls `db.Open` itself. Forward-looking, but stated in the present tense. - `app.go:8-9` "seals values at rest" — nothing is persisted yet; it *can* seal. - Sheets' `seal/vectors_test.go` (pins the HKDF derivation: "If this changes, every sealed row ... becomes unreadable") was not ported. It is the one test that would catch the envelope drift the commit message warns about. - `sealtest.go:41-45`: the commit message argues an upper-case canary "cannot see the lowercased copy", then ships two upper-case canaries with a case-sensitive `bytes.Contains`. The plan's alternative ("or scan case-insensitively") was not taken. Fine for the address; unargued for team names, which the spec normalises for reservation. - `testapp_test.go:12-13` "safe for concurrent use because mail.Sender's contract requires that" — it is safe because of the mutex; the contract is why it must be. - Commit message "Verified by breaking it ... the failure was observed before the file was removed" — unverifiable from the commit. I re-verified it: a `package leak` importing `sealtest` fails the guard. - `Makefile:4` "This skeleton opens no database yet" is now stale (see B1). - Plan line 343 names `TestLogtestOnlyImportedByTests`; the test was renamed. ### Verified true (briefly) 1. `seal.go` diff vs sheets-core: only the package doc and the `"oficina/home:"` info string. 2. `CanaryAddress` is in `Canaries`, lowercase, one `@`, passes `signin.SplitAddress`; three canaries for three purposes; `findLeak` reads `-wal` and `-shm` and a WAL-only leak is caught (`TestFindLeakChecksWAL`). 3. Every claimed refusal fires and names the variable; whitespace is trimmed by design; "exactly 32" for the pepper is a policy choice, not a HMAC requirement — fine. 4. `signin.Flow.Key` is `[32]byte`; `sealPending`/`openPending` refuse zero with `ErrNoKey` (`flow.go:52`, `pending.go:41,56`). 5. `mail.FromEnv` returns `Logged` when HOST or FROM is empty; `loggedSender.Send` logs `"to", to` (`mail.go:83-85,102-106`). 6. Guard: nested loop is correct — the two paths are not prefixes of each other, one `Errorf` per matching import, nothing missed; `skipDir` skips dot-dirs so `.claude/worktrees` is not double-scanned. 7. `go 1.25.0`, `x/crypto v0.55.0` (`go 1.25.0`); `v0.56.0.mod` says `go 1.26.0`; nothing in the graph needs 1.26; `x/sys` 0.46→0.47 is required by `x/crypto v0.55.0`. 9. Deviation 1 sound. Deviation 2 sound: Sheets' `loopback()` is keyed on `SHEETS_ORIGIN` being http + localhost/127.0.0.1/::1; nothing in Tasks 2-7 depends on a loopback carve-out. Deviation 3: Task 2 opens its own handle and blanks `DBPath`, so nothing downstream breaks — but see B1 for what this commit actually does meanwhile. **Verdict: CHANGES NEEDED** — B1/B2/B3 together mean the boot path as written cannot start on the platform and the docs say the opposite of what rastrillo does; B4-B6 are false safety claims in the two files whose whole purpose is those safety claims.</result> <usage><subagent_tokens>131542</subagent_tokens><tool_uses>34</tool_uses><duration_ms>430264</duration_ms></usage> </task-notification>

I ran five mutants in a scratch copy under `$TMPDIR`, booted the built binary against the platform's invocation shape, and checked every source claim against rastrillo v0.22.0, signin v0.1.1, modernc sqlite v1.55.0, and `carlos/platform` at `97eb53f`. The worktree is untouched. ### Part 1 — the six earlier findings | | Status | Evidence | |---|---|---| | B1/B2/B3 | **Fixed** | `run.go:87-92`: `-db` overwrites `DBPath` only when passed; relative path joined to `$STATE_DIRECTORY`. `carlos-app@.service`: `ExecStart=/opt/carlos/live/%i serve`, `StateDirectory=carlos-app/%i`, `Restart=always` — all as claimed. Reproduced: binary with `serve --addr`, no `--db`, `STATE_DIRECTORY` set → `/healthz` 200, `/` 200, `home.db` created under `$STATE_DIRECTORY`, nothing in cwd. Missing `HOME_PEPPER` → exit 1. `opts.DBPath = ""` before `Serve` is valid (`serve.go:341-352`, Mux + empty DBPath). Nothing on the platform path overrides the default. With `STATE_DIRECTORY` unset the file lands in cwd — reproduced; that's the dev-checkout case and can't happen under the unit. But see B-4: the fix leaves stale claims behind. | | B4 | **Fixed** | `keys.go:89-91`, one test per key. See B-5 for the comment. | | B5 | **Fixed** | `app.go:50-61`; `TestNewRefusesIncompleteWiring` covers zero value, each nil, nil db. | | B6 | **Fixed in `seal.go`, regressed in wording** at `links.go:21-22` (N-2). | ### Part 2 — findings **B-1 BLOCKING — `TakeLink`'s expiry predicate has no test that can fail.** `internal/home/links.go:104` `WHERE token_hash = ? AND purpose = ? AND expires_at > ?`. I replaced `expires_at > ?` with `? IS NOT NULL`; **every test passed.** Cause: `PutLink` sweeps after each insert (`links.go:89`), so the "expired" row in `TestTakeLinkIsIndistinguishableAcrossFailures` (`links_test.go:74-76`) is deleted by its own `PutLink` before `TakeLink` runs — the `expired` subtest at `:85` actually tests "never existed". Same for `TestSweepExpiredLinksRemovesOnlyExpiredOnes`. The signin contract (`magiclink.go:26-28`) says "enforcing expiry is entirely the implementer's obligation; Flow performs no expiry check of its own." Fix: insert an already-expired row directly (bypassing `PutLink`), or make `TakeLink` take a `now` and test with a future-dated row and a later clock. **B-2 BLOCKING — the static guard's `sealed` exemption is abusable, and the test that claims it is narrow cannot fail.** `internal/guardstest/noaddress_test.go:44` `if strings.Contains(strings.ToLower(code), "sealed") { continue }` — per line, substring. A migration with `unsealed_address TEXT NOT NULL`, with `CREATE TABLE x (id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, sealed_note BLOB, address TEXT NOT NULL);` on one line, and with `address TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT 'sealed'` **passed `TestNoAddressColumn`**; the runtime twin (`db_test.go:113`) caught all three. Commit 65bafa8: "Both exemptions … now have tests asserting they stay narrow" — the sealed half of `TestGuardExemptionsAreNarrow` (`:101-107`) asserts only that `"sealed_address"` contains `"sealed"` and that `"address TEXT,"` matches the regex; neither touches the exemption. Commit e41d43c: "so both exemptions are stated in both places", `db_test.go:104-105` "two independent checks that agree" — they do not: `db_test.go:112` promises `unsealed_address` "does not slip through", and the static guard lets it through. The word lists also differ: static has no bare `mail` (so `mail`, `sender_mail` pass static, caught at runtime); both miss `emails` and `addr`. Fix: tokenise the identifier as `splitIdent` does and exempt only a whole `sealed` token, then add the three cases above to the narrowness test. **B-3 BLOCKING — `db.go` overstates what `secure_delete` does.** `internal/home/db.go:19-22`: "without it, a redeemed magic link's sealed row is gone from the table and still present in the file, and in every WAL frame Litestream has already shipped." `secure_delete` cannot touch frames already shipped, and it does not clear the WAL on disk either: on this driver with the hook active (`PRAGMA secure_delete` = 1), a plaintext value inserted then deleted was **still present in `x.db-wal`** after the DELETE, gone only after `wal_checkpoint(TRUNCATE)`. What it does is zero freed content in the pages it rewrites, so the post-checkpoint main file and the new frame don't carry it. The spec's sentence (§5.1, "does not remove bytes from a file") is narrower and fine; the comment should say what the control does, not imply it recalls the WAL. (Default here is 0 with no hook, so the hook is not theatre — it just isn't what the comment says.) **B-4 BLOCKING — the B2 fix left the "no --db" story stale in three places.** `cmd/home/main.go:69-70` "no --db and SQLite opens a private temporary database that loses every person on restart" — with `DBPath: "home.db"` at `:57`, that refusal can no longer fire on this path. `internal/home/keys.go:104-106` "rastrillo.Resolve owns it (it comes from -db)", `:112-117` "Resolve sets DBPath only from -db … pass --db" — DBPath now comes from the Options default, and the error tells an operator to pass a flag the unit cannot pass. `keys_test.go:145-147` repeats it. Same defect class as B1-B3. **B-5 BLOCKING — "fails every single sign-in" is false at source.** `keys.go:85-87` "the app boots, answers /healthz, and fails every single sign-in"; `keys_test.go:157-159`; commit e41d43c "failed every single sign-in". `Flow.Key` is read only at `flow.go:163` (`beginKeymail`) and `flow.go:213` (`CompleteKeymail`); `sendLink` and `CompleteMagicLink` never touch it, and `HashToken` is plain SHA-256. A zero `HOME_SIGNIN_KEY` breaks the Keymail-classified path only; magic-link sign-in works. The refusal is still right on the placeholder argument alone — the stated consequence is not. **N-1 NIT — undisclosed plan deviations.** Task 4 step 5: sweep "at boot and on each PutLink" — no boot sweep exists. Step 1: "Run the concurrency one against both pools" — the test only reaches `Writer()`; `TakeLink` can only use the writer, so it cannot be done, but say so. e41d43c discloses only the sessions/passkey deferral. **N-2 NIT — `links.go:21-22`** "an address and a team name — adjacent columns of adjacent tables": there is no teams table in this schema, and "adjacent tables" is B6's sentence reworded, not removed. `seal.go`'s corrected wording (a store handed the wrong purpose) is the right one. **N-3 NIT — `links.go:48-52`** "§3.1 prefers 'an expensive KDF rather than a bare HMAC'": §3.1:336 says the index *uses* one — a statement, not a preference; the quote is softened. And "Filed for Paul" / e41d43c "FILED FOR PAUL": nothing in this range files anything (the spec is untouched; the plan diff is 3 lines). Plan Task 4 asked to "File the tension as a spec note." Point at the filing or make one. **N-4 NIT — heads-up, not in this range.** `PutLink`'s sweep log (`links.go:90`) is clean: it binds only a timestamp and SQLite error text carries SQL/column names, never bound values. But rastrillo `db.Open` installs a GORM logger that prints slow (>200 ms) queries **with interpolated parameters** at Warn (`db.go:84-88`). Nothing here goes through `d.G` with an address; the first thing that does will put it in platform logs. Worth a sentence in `db.go` now. **N-5 NIT —** 9209153 "Three database-level tests beyond the plan … : that both table sets exist … and that the database as actually built has no address column" lists two; the third is a matcher unit test. Trivial. ### Verified true (so nobody re-checks them) - `TakeLink` atomicity: `Writer()` is the raw writer `*sql.DB` capped at 1 (`db.go:59,119`); `DELETE … RETURNING` applies on first step, `Row.Scan`'s close commits in autocommit; second take proves it. **The race test is real**: a SELECT-then-DELETE mutant failed 10/10 runs with 2-10 winners. - Expiry boundaries: take `>` / sweep `<=` agree at the boundary second; RFC3339 truncation refuses at most <1 s early. No gap, no overlap. - `findOrMintPerson`: DO UPDATE + RETURNING yields the existing ref (`TestFindOrMintPersonIsStable`); a `person_ref` conflict (2^-128) surfaces as a UNIQUE error, which is correct; refs are random so nothing is "burned". - Normalisation: `Begin` hands `PutLink` `TrimSpace`d `local@lower(domain)` (`flow.go:128-131`, `signin.go:61-74`); `TakeLink` returns that string; `blindIndex` lowercases the whole thing. One row per person; Keymail's own check is `EqualFold`. Consistent. - Gate 1 flush: the unsealed mutant fails with exactly `plaintext "canary-8f3a@example.invalid" found in home.db-wal` — data is on disk in the WAL at scan time. - `sync.Once`: hooks append (`driver.go:201`); `sqlite.go:785` line number correct; secure_delete default 0 without the hook, 1 on writer and reader with it. - `models.go` sessions columns match `sessions/migrations/0001_init.sql`. Sheets' info string is `oficina/sheets:`+purpose; `vectors_test.go` is a genuine port plus additions. Containment guard rename correct. `.amadan/ci.d` runs five make targets and deploys nothing. Restart=always and the activator's wedged-unit text (`backend_unit.go:205-213`) are as quoted. ### Verdict **CHANGES NEEDED.** Two gates that cannot fail on the thing they guard (B-1, B-2) and three claims false at source (B-3, B-4, B-5). The code underneath is largely right; the fixes are a real expiry test, a token-based static exemption with a test that bites, and three comment rewrites.</result> <usage><subagent_tokens>170005</subagent_tokens><tool_uses>46</tool_uses><duration_ms>556519</duration_ms></usage> </task-notification>

The user can send it another message and resume it, so the same task-id may notify more than once.</note> <result>I have everything I need. Report follows. ## Scope note The branch moved under me. The assigned range was `e41d43c..05376b0` (six commits); by the time I finished, `HEAD` was **f945e66** — eleven commits, adding `903eb7b` (enrol freshness), `3211100` (the X-Forwarded-For citation), `f945e66` (callback binding tests) and two step-3 plan commits. **Everything below is against f945e66**, verified against a byte-identical snapshot. Two of the things I would have filed (`/passkey/enrol` freshness; the untested callback binding) were fixed while I read, and I have not filed them; one of the fixes introduced a new defect (finding 6). Baseline: `go test ./...` green. All mutants below were confirmed to **compile** (`go vet ./...` clean) before being scored — my first pass mis-scored two build failures as survivors and I re-ran everything. --- # BLOCKING ## 1. The Gate can be removed from the keymail path and the whole suite still passes `internal/home/signin.go:245` `completeSignIn` is the only Gate call site, and the only thing that pins it is a text grep. **Mutant (survives, suite green):** in `handleCallback`, replace `a.completeSignIn(w, r, id)` with ```go sm := a.sessions if err := sm.SignIn(w, r, sessions.Session{Subject: "pr_bypass", Method: string(id.Method), AuthTime: id.AuthTime, At: id.At}); err != nil { ... } http.Redirect(w, r, "/", http.StatusSeeOther) ``` `go test ./internal/...` → **ok**. A keymail-upgraded account with a passkey enrolled now signs in with one factor. That is, verbatim, the bug the plan says this task exists to prevent (`docs/superpowers/plans/2026-09-03-home-signin.md`, Task 6 step 3: *"An earlier draft named only the first, which left a Keymail-upgraded account with a passkey enrolled signing in with a single factor. That is the bug this task exists to prevent, arriving through the door the task forgot."*). The same mutation written as `a.sessions.SignIn(` **is** caught — by `TestSessionsSignInHasExactlyOneCallSite` alone. So the only guard on the keymail path is a substring match on one receiver spelling. Renaming the receiver, taking a local, or mounting any other rastrillo handler defeats it. Two doc claims fall with it: - `internal/home/passkey_test.go:130` — *"The Gate is on both sign-in paths because there is exactly one place that mints a session… a future handler that calls sessions.SignIn directly would bypass the second factor silently, and this makes that loud."* It does not make it loud; it makes one spelling of it loud. - `internal/home/passkey_test.go:138` — *"sessions.SignIn is called in %d places (%v); it must be exactly one, or a caller can mint a session without passing passkey.Gate."* The deployed app already has **four** session mints: `signin.go`, plus `passkey.SignInFinish`, `SignInRecovery` and `StepUpFinish`, all three mounted on this router at `app.go:165-167`. Three of the four never pass the Gate. They are legitimately gated by other means, but the invariant the test states is not the invariant the app has, and the test cannot tell the difference. Also worth knowing: the grep counts occurrences in **comments and strings**. A comment quoting `"a.sessions.SignIn("` fails the test on its own. It is simultaneously trivially evadable and trivially false-positive. **Fix:** assert behaviour, not text. There is no test anywhere that a keymail callback for an enrolled person redirects to `confirmPath` and mints nothing — the mirror of `TestEnrolledPersonCannotSignInWithOneFactor` for the other door. ## 2. `sampleData` does not reach every script-bearing branch; the doc says it does `internal/home/noscript_test.go:77-79`: > *"sampleData is enough data for each page to render its script-bearing branches. Every branch matters: a page that only emits its `<script>` inside an `{{if}}` would otherwise slip past."* **Mutant (survives):** add to `signin.html` — ``` {{if .Debug}}<script src="/static/evil.js"></script>{{end}} ``` `sampleData` is a hand-written fixed key set (`RPID`, `LegacyRPID`, `UserID`, `UserName`, `Token`, `Remaining`, `Error`, `RecoveryFailed`, `Codes`). On a `map[string]any`, `.Debug` resolves to `nil` with no error, the branch never renders, and the sweep passes by not looking. Any key a future template introduces is invisible to the sweep by construction. The sentence quoted is false at source. ## 3. The `<script>` regex misses a shape that renders fine in every browser `internal/home/noscript_test.go:39` — `` `(?is)<script([^>]*)>(.*?)</script>` ``, justified at line 36 as *"Hand-rolled rather than pulling in an HTML parser as a dependency: the input is this repo's own templates, and the shapes it has to survive are the ones we write."* **Mutant (survives):** `<script src="/static/evil.js"></script >` — one space before the closing bracket. The regex requires the literal `</script>`, finds no match, `scriptSrcs` returns empty, and `TestNoScriptTagOutsideTheAllowlist` `continue`s past a page that loads an arbitrary script. HTML permits whitespace there and every browser accepts it. "The shapes it has to survive are the ones we write" is exactly the assumption that fails: nobody writes `</script >` on purpose, which is why nobody would notice. (The plan, Task 7 step 2a, specified `scriptSrcs` should *"parse the HTML"*. It does not.) ## 4. The oracle test's token-stripping does hide a real difference — and it only compares body + status `internal/home/signin_test.go:206-212`. The comment asserts the thing it cannot check: *"The bodies differ only where the token itself is echoed into the hidden field."* **Mutant R (survives):** make `handleVerifyForm` consult the store and, for a token that exists, render `Token: tok + tok`. ```go if a.db.Writer().QueryRow(`SELECT count(*) FROM signin_links WHERE token_hash = ?`, signin.HashToken(tok)).Scan(&n) == nil && n > 0 { shown = tok + tok // a VALID token renders differently } ``` Suite green. `ReplaceAll(good, real, "")` erases both copies and `ReplaceAll(bad, fake, "")` erases the one — the two stripped bodies are byte-identical. **Any oracle whose output is a function of the token string is erased by the comparison.** A prefetching mail scanner sees a page whose length differs by 43 bytes for a live token. **Mutant T (survives):** put the oracle in a header — `w.Header().Set("X-Link", "known")` when `len(tok) == 43`. The test reads `good.Code`, `bad.Code` and the two bodies. Headers are never compared. The handler is correct today. The test does not establish that it stays correct. ## 5. `handleCallback` still has no coverage of the success path — so the pending cookie's attributes and its clearing are unasserted `f945e66` added four cookie-less shapes and one bad-MAC blob. Good, and I confirmed at source that `openPending("")` returns `ErrPendingInvalid` before any network call and that `state` is compared against the sealed `p.State` (`signin@v0.1.1/pending.go:59-67`, `flow.go:217`). The comment at `signin.go:224-236` is true. But no test ever drives a *successful* keymail return, so: **Mutant O (survives):** delete the whole clearing `http.SetCookie` from `takePending` (`signin.go:323-328`). The blob is then good for unlimited callbacks. `signin.go:41` — *"And it is cleared on read, so a blob is good for exactly one callback"* — is unasserted. **Mutant P (survives):** rename `pendingCookie` to `"oficina-signin"` and set `Domain: "oficina.works"`, `HttpOnly: false`, `Secure: false`. Suite green. `TestNoCookieOnTheCredentialOriginCarriesADomain` inspects only the recorders from `signIn` and `redeem`, and tests never take the keymail branch (the classifier is stubbed to error), so it never sees this cookie. `signin.go:34` — *"Every attribute here is load-bearing"* — is asserted by nothing. On the ordering you asked about: writing `Set-Cookie` to `w` before `r.Cookie` is correct and safe on every path — they touch different header maps, and the clearing header is emitted whether the read succeeds, fails, or the handler later renders. That part is fine; it is just untested. ## 6. `enrolFreshness` (10m) and `codesFreshness` (5m) contradict each other, and `passkey.js` walks straight into the gap Introduced by `903eb7b`. `internal/home/passkey.go:41` `codesFreshness = 5 * time.Minute`, `:65` `enrolFreshness = 10 * time.Minute`, and `internal/home/static/passkey.js:54` sends the browser to `/passkey/codes` the instant registration finishes. Measured: ``` session 7m old: GET /passkey/enrol = 200 session 7m old: POST /passkey/register/begin = 200 session 7m old: GET /passkey/codes = 303 → /signin?reauth=1 ``` So a person whose session is 5-10 minutes old is allowed to enrol a passkey and is then bounced to re-authenticate — **at the one moment they hold a passkey and zero recovery codes.** That is precisely the outcome `codesFreshness`'s own doc comment (`passkey.go:25-27`) says the value was chosen to prevent: > *"Long enough to exceed a passkey ceremony round trip, or enrolling and then being asked for your codes would bounce straight back to a step-up."* That sentence was true when `enrolFreshness` did not exist. `903eb7b` made it false and did not revisit it. Either make `codesFreshness >= enrolFreshness`, or gate them at the same value, or state the ordering constraint and pin it with a test. --- # NIT ## 7. `internal/home/app.go:7-11` and `cmd/home/main.go:3` are false > *"This package is not yet the home: it wires the platform contract, validates the configuration sign-in needs (keys.go) and seals values at rest (seal/), but serves only one placeholder page. **Sign-in**, directory, assertions and provisioning **are not implemented yet**. See page.go."* Sign-in, passkeys, recovery codes, eight templates and eighteen routes are implemented in this very branch. `cmd/home/main.go:3` likewise still says *"It serves internal/home's one placeholder page."* Eleven commits went past both. ## 8. `signin.go:38` overstates what `SameSite=Lax` contributes > *"SameSite=Lax is what stops a cross-site request carrying it"* Lax **sends** the cookie on cross-site top-level GET navigations — which is exactly the shape of the attack on a GET callback (an attacker page does `location = /signin/callback?code=…&state=…`). Lax blocks cross-site POSTs and subresource loads, neither of which is the threat here. What actually stops the attack is that the attacker cannot obtain or forge the HMAC'd blob and cannot know the sealed `state`. The security holds; the stated reason for it does not, and it is listed among the attributes that "are the reason the callback is allowed to mint a session on a GET." ## 9. `signin.go:235` — "It redirects and never renders" is false `handleCallback` → `completeSignIn` → `a.signinFailed(w)` on a find-or-mint failure or a session-mint failure, which **renders** `signin_failed.html`. No §4 violation (the page carries no account-influenced string), but the sentence is wrong. ## 10. `TestServedCSPAllowsNoInlineScript` does not assert what a browser receives `internal/home/noscript_test.go:147` claims it does — *"the point is what a browser receives, not what a library declares."* It builds its own `rastrillo.Options{Mux: mux, Logger: …}`, not the options `cmd/home/main.go` builds, and it requests exactly one path. **Mutant L (survives):** `w.Header().Set("Content-Security-Policy", "default-src 'self' 'unsafe-inline'")` at the top of `handlePasskeyConfirm` — the one page that actually loads script, and the one place an `unsafe-inline` carve-out would be tempting. Suite green. rastrillo's own `serve.go:383-386` documents that a handler's header *replaces* the default, so this is the supported way to widen it. `TestAppNeverSetsItsOwnCSP` only greps `cmd/home/main.go`. Fix is cheap: loop the served-CSP assertion over every route the app mounts, not just `/signin`. ## 11. The rate limiter is never exercised end to end The plan (Task 5, step 4) asks: *"Test both paths — a request with the header gets its own budget, one without does not silently share a global one."* `TestClientIPNeverCollapsesToOneBucket` tests `clientIP()`'s return value only. No test drives 21 POSTs to `/signin`, so `handleSigninBegin`'s `ErrRateLimited` → 429 branch (`signin.go:169-174`) is dead code as far as the suite is concerned, and nothing proves the budget is actually per-IP rather than global. ## 12. `clientIP`'s carlos citation checks out; the residual is that nothing proves the app is behind the edge I verified `3211100`'s claims at `carlos/platform@97eb53f`: - `stripForwardedHeaders` (`internal/edge/homemap.go:806`) deletes `Forwarded` and `X-Forwarded-{For,Host,Proto}` — called on the failed-hop-verification path; its own doc says the ReverseProxy `Rewrite` deletion is the primary mechanism and this is "belt and braces". Accurate. - `setForwarded` (`homemap.go:910`) calls `pr.SetXForwarded()` first (single address: the dialling peer), and on a *verified* hop replaces it with the inbound chain **verbatim** — with the literal sentence *"Not appended to: the last element has to stay the client"* and the citation to `internal/console/authcli.go:715` (*"the LAST element is the one to take"*). Accurate. So taking the last element is right **behind the carlos edge**. Nothing in the app checks that it is. Run directly (local dev, an internal caller, a misconfigured unit), any client sets `X-Forwarded-For` per request and gets an unlimited budget. Worth one sentence in the comment; not worth code. ## 13. `next.Redirect` is an attacker-influenceable redirect target, and nothing bounds it `signin.go:184` 303s to `next.Redirect`, built in `signin@v0.1.1/flow.go:172` as `https://<c.Server>/oauth/authorize?…`, where `c.Server` is the raw `host=` value from the submitter's `_keymail.<domain>` TXT record (`classify.go:250-268`) — unvalidated, so it may contain `/`, `?`, `@` or a port. Same value becomes `Base: "https://" + server` at `signin.go:65` for the token exchange. Practically bounded: it requires the submitter to type an address at a domain the attacker controls, and `csrf.Protect` blocks the cross-origin POST, so it is a redirect the victim chose. I would not block on it. But the blind-SSRF acknowledgement at `app.go:130-136` and the `classifierTimeout` comment at `signin.go:50-54` both frame the risk as *holding a handler open*; neither says the outbound host is arbitrary and may be an internal address (`host=127.0.0.1:2379`). Say so where it is claimed to be understood. --- # Verified clean Reported so you know they were checked, not skipped: - **`handleVerifyForm` touches no state and does not look the token up.** True at source. `TestGetDoesNotRedeemTheLink` kills the "GET redeems" mutant (both the burn and the session). - **`CompleteKeymail` with `blob == ""`.** `openPending` finds no `.`, returns `ErrPendingInvalid` before any network call. `state` is checked against the sealed `p.State`, and the blob is HMAC'd under `Flow.Key`. A forged code/state with no cookie reaches nothing. Now tested by `f945e66`. - **`sessions.SafeReturn`** (`sessions.go:458`) is path-only: rejects anything not starting `/`, rejects `//`, `\`, and control characters. No open redirect through the Gate's `return_to`. - **`takePending`'s write-then-read ordering** is correct on every path, including error paths. - **Templates: no XSS.** I rendered every `{{…}}` with `" onload="alert(1)` and `<img src=x onerror=alert(1)>`. `bodyattrs` (`data-rpid`/`data-userid`/`data-username`), the hidden `Token` field and `{{range .Codes}}<code>` all escape correctly — html/template resolves the `<body{{block "bodyattrs" .}}>` context properly. - **`TestRPIDIsExactlyTheCredentialHost` is a real guard.** Killed all three mutants: `LegacyRPID: "oficina.works"`, `Origin` widened to the apex, and `rpID()` dropping the leading label. - **The enrol freshness gate works.** 24-hour session: `/passkey/enrol` → 303, `register/begin` → 403, `register/finish` → 403. And `903eb7b`'s claim *"Verified by breaking it: swapping RequireFresh for Require fails"* is **true** — `r.Use(a.sessions.Require)` fails `TestEnrolmentNeedsAFreshSession`. (My first attempt at this mutant did not compile and I mis-scored it; corrected.) - **`codesFreshness` widened to 30 days** is killed; **`enrolFreshness` widened to 30 days** is killed. - **Doc claims about other packages, checked at the pinned v0.22.0** (note: `go.mod` pins **v0.22.0**, not the v0.26.0 sitting beside it in the module cache — I re-read the relevant code at v0.22.0): - `rastrillo/auth` does store the address as the session subject (`auth/handlers.go:136` `Subject: id.Address`) — so `completeSignIn`'s justification at `signin.go:240-244` is true. - `rastrillo.Serve` does register `GET /healthz` on the outer mux (`serve.go:458`) and mounts `opts.Mux` at `/` (`serve.go:473`), so `app.go:139-145` is true. - `signin`'s defaults are as documented: `/auth/verify` (`flow.go:191`), `/auth/callback` (`keymail.go:36`), `PendingTTL` 10m (`flow.go:165`). - **`AGENTS.md` and the spec's §3.1 note** are honest: the AGENTS.md edit replaces a status sentence with a rule, and the new spec block openly records that `blindIndex` implements ruling 3 and that §3.1's expensive-KDF sentence is therefore currently false about the code. That is the right way to file it. - **`namesAnAddress`'s claim** at `guardstest/noaddress_test.go` that its word list *"matches the runtime twin's list in internal/home/db_test.go"* is true — both are `address, addresses, addr, email, emails, mail, recipient, recipients`. - Inline `onclick=` handlers are not caught by the sweep, but rastrillo's `default-src 'self'` makes them inert. Not filed. --- # CHANGES NEEDED Four gates do not guard what their comments say they guard (findings 1-4), one load-bearing code path has no success-path coverage at all (5), one freshness pair contradicts itself and the JS flow that walks it (6), and the package doc says sign-in is not implemented (7). Ranked by what I would fix first: 1. **Finding 1** — replace the grep with a behavioural test that an enrolled person's *keymail* callback lands on `confirmPath` and mints nothing. Right now a one-line spelling change removes the second factor from that door with the suite green. 2. **Finding 6** — the enrol/codes window ordering, because it hits real people at the moment they have a passkey and no recovery codes. 3. **Findings 2, 3, 4** — the three guards whose comments promise more than the code delivers. All three are cheap: template-source scanning rather than rendered-output scanning for the sweep; compare full responses (headers included) rather than token-stripped bodies for the oracle. 4. **Finding 5** — one happy-path keymail test would kill mutants O and P together. 5. **Finding 7** and the rest of the NITs.</result> <usage><subagent_tokens>223064</subagent_tokens><tool_uses>70</tool_uses><duration_ms>924285</duration_ms></usage> </task-notification>

The user can send it another message and resume it, so the same task-id may notify more than once.</note> <result>Repo untouched — all mutation work ran in `$TMPDIR` copies built from `git archive d39fc86`. Every mutant below was compile-checked before scoring. ## The six findings **1. Gate on the keymail path — KILLED.** Mutant (mint via `sm := a.sessions; sm.SignIn(...)` in `handleCallback`) compiles, and `TestKeymailSignInIsGatedForAnEnrolledPerson` fails: *"the keymail callback went to "/", want "/passkey/confirm"".* I re-ran it with the grep string scrubbed from my mutant's comment — my first attempt accidentally contained `a.sessions.SignIn(` verbatim and tripped the tripwire spuriously. The behavioural test alone is the killer, which is exactly what the commit claims. *Stub fidelity:* faithful for what these tests assert. `/api/federation/lookup`'s key matches `probe`'s `lower(local)+"@"+domain`; well-known field names match `domainInfo`'s struct (`version`, not `v`); zero-vs-nonzero `auth_time` matches `Exchange`. Named gaps, none load-bearing: the stub ignores `code_verifier` (no PKCE S256 check), `client_id` and `redirect_uri`; there is no `/oauth/authorize` handler, so codes are invented by the test rather than issued; and `app.flow.Keymail` is rebuilt **without** the `HTTP` field, so exchanges run on the library's 15s default client instead of the app's `classifierTimeout` one — the timeout wiring is untested. **2. Script sweep — KILLED** for `{{if .Debug}}`, `</script >`, unbalanced `<script`, a script in `layout.html`, one inside an HTML comment, and a dynamic `src="{{.X}}"` on an allowlisted page. `src='...'`: in committed `d39fc86` it falls to the inline branch — fails safe, wrong diagnosis. The uncommitted working-tree edit fixes it properly (verified: reports *loads "https://evil.invalid/x.js"*). Two survive. `<scr{{""}}ipt ...>` renders as `<scrZgotmplZipt>` — html/template's auto-escaping neutralises it, so not a hole. `onclick="..."` **is** unswept (CSP is the only thing stopping it) — NIT. **3. Oracle test — KILLED.** Mutant R (token echoed twice when live) fails on the body: *"676 bytes vs 633 after normalising"*. Mutant T′ (`Cache-Control` set only when live) fails on headers. **Two it still misses**, both compile and survive the *whole* suite: - **U (timing):** `time.Sleep(40ms)` when the token is live. The test compares status, headers and body only. A prefetching scanner times the response and learns liveness. - **V (state):** the GET does `UPDATE signin_links SET expires_at = now+24h` for a live token. `handleVerifyForm`'s comment says *"It TOUCHES NO STATE, and that is the whole point"* and *"It must not look the token up either"* — nothing enforces either. The test enforces response-indistinguishability, which is narrower than the comment claims. **4. Freshness ordering — KILLED.** Reverting to `5 * time.Minute` fails both `TestFreshnessWindowsDoNotStrandAnEnroller` and `TestEnrolThenReadCodesWithoutReauthenticating` (303 at 7 minutes). Day-old sessions still refused by both windows. `codesFreshness` has exactly one use site, so nothing else assumes the old ordering. `passkey.js` has only two redirect chains — enrol→`/passkey/codes` (the fixed one) and confirm→`/`, ungated — so no other route pair has the problem. **5. CSP — mutant L KILLED**, naming `/passkey/confirm` as promised. `chi.Walk` does enumerate all 23 routes including both `r.Group` blocks (they report `middlewares=2`). **But see blocking C below.** **6. Rate-limit tests — real.** Budgets of 1,000,000 kill both. Forcing `clientIP` to `""` kills *only* the per-IP test while the per-address one still passes, proving the two isolate different budgets. No shared state: `limiterOnce`/`defaultLimiter` are `Flow` fields, `newTestApp` builds a fresh `Flow` per test, and `NewMemoryLimiter` starts no goroutine or ticker. `-race -count=2` and two `-shuffle=on` runs are all green. ## New findings **BLOCKING A — `enrolFreshness`'s justification is now false** (`internal/home/passkey.go:71`). It still reads *"Ten minutes rather than the codes page's five"*. This commit made `codesFreshness = enrolFreshness`, so the codes page's window is ten. The commit changed the value and left the sentence that cites the old one. **BLOCKING B — the retracted claim survives verbatim** (`internal/home/signin.go:351`). `takePending`'s comment: *"clears it in the same breath, so one blob completes at most one callback."* That is the exact sentence the rewritten `pendingCookie` comment 300 lines above spends a paragraph retracting as false. **BLOCKING C — the CSP sweep probes every route with GET only.** `TestServedCSPAllowsNoInlineScript` walks all 23 routes but issues `httptest.NewRequest(http.MethodGet, p, nil)`, so the 8 POST-only handlers never run. Mutant L2 — the same `unsafe-inline` header set in `handleSigninBegin` — **survives the whole suite**. The comment says *"EVERY route, not just one"*, which overstates it. `chi.Walk` already hands the callback the method; using it is the fix. **NITs** - `handleCallback`'s new sentence *"On success it redirects. On a failure it renders signin_failed.html"* inverts the common case: a failed `CompleteKeymail` redirects to `/signin?force=1`; only a downstream `completeSignIn` failure renders. Technically defensible, misleading as written. - `onclick=` and other inline handlers are outside the sweep entirely. - The sweep reads only this app's `templates/*.html`; 30 rastrillo `ui` partials are parsed into every page tree and never scanned. Clean today (no `<script>` in `partials/`, and `ui.Templates()` excludes the `layouts/` files that do have one), but an upgrade could change that silently. - `\bsrc` matches `data-src=`, so `data-src="/evil.js" src="/static/passkey.js"` reports `/evil.js`. Fail-safe, wrong diagnosis — the defect the new `srcAttr` comment says it fixed. Pre-existing. - Missing blank comment line before *"It must be at least enrolFreshness"* (`passkey.go:41`) runs two paragraphs together. **Not a problem:** the keymail stub does **not** leak goroutines — `t.Cleanup(k.srv.Close)` handles it. The ~+2 goroutines/test I measured is `newTestApp` alone (identical delta with no stub and no HTTP at all), pre-existing and unrelated to this commit. Verified claims: the "four mint sites" count is right (`recovery.go:148`, `passkey.go:334`, `passkey.go:550`, plus `completeSignIn`); `PendingTTL` does default to 10 minutes. The `clientIP` carlos citation cites a repo not present here, so I could not check it. ## Verdict **CHANGES NEEDED.** All six original findings are genuinely fixed and their mutants killed — the work is sound. Three blocking items remain, all small: two false doc claims (A, B) that are the same defect class this commit set out to eliminate, and one guard (C) that still cannot fail on 8 of 23 routes while claiming to cover every one. Findings 3's survivors (timing, and a GET that writes) are worth a stated limit in the comment rather than more test machinery, since the comment currently promises more than the test delivers.</result> <usage><subagent_tokens>171697</subagent_tokens><tool_uses>55</tool_uses><duration_ms>758653</duration_ms></usage> </task-notification>

The user can send it another message and resume it, so the same task-id may notify more than once.</note> <result>All mutants compiled before running. Full results below. --- ## 1. A — `enrolFreshness` prose — **FIXED** `internal/home/passkey.go:69-77`. The "codes page's five" clause is gone. `grep -ri '\bfive\b|5 \* time.Minute'` over `internal/` returns nothing stale — the only surviving "5" is `passkey_test.go:378`'s historical note ("enrolFreshness was 10 minutes and codesFreshness 5"), correctly past-tense. `codesFreshness = enrolFreshness = 10 * time.Minute`, and every sentence in both comments now matches. One NIT below on the new sentence's commit count. ## 2. B — `takePending` — **FIXED, but the retracted claim still ships elsewhere** `signin.go:356-366` now agrees with `pendingCookie` (`signin.go:45-53`) and with the code: clearing is hygiene, the authorization code is what is single-use. I grepped the whole package for repeats of every retracted claim on this branch (single-use/one callback, "cleared on read", SameSite=Lax as a defence, "never renders"). One hit: **BLOCKING —** `internal/home/keymail_test.go:91`: ```go t.Error("the callback did not clear the pending cookie, so the blob is replayable") ``` That `so` is the retracted causal claim verbatim, and the comment thirteen lines below it (`keymail_test.go:94-98`) says the opposite: "Note what does the work: NOT the cookie clearing … The first version of this test asserted the clearing was what made the round trip single-use, and it failed, because it is not." Same shape as finding B — a retracted claim standing inside the function that retracts it. One-line fix: drop the clause, or say "so this browser will re-send it". ## 3. C — CSP sweep — **named mutant FIXED; the sweep still does not reach 10 of 23 routes** Mutant L2 in `handleSigninBegin`: **FAILS** — `noscript_test.go:300: /signin: CSP directive "default-src 'self' 'unsafe-inline'" permits inline or eval'd script`. Same in `handleVerify` (`/signin/verify`) and `handlePasskeyConfirm`. 23 targets walked, matching the claimed count. **BLOCKING —** the same mutant **survives** (test reports `ok`) in all three of: | handler | route | sweep status | |---|---|---| | `handleRegenerateRecoveryCodes` | POST `/passkey/codes` | 403 | | `handleRecoveryCodesPage` | GET `/passkey/codes` | 303 | | `handlePasskeyEnrol` | GET `/passkey/enrol` | 303 | I instrumented the loop to log `method path -> status`. Of the 23 targets, **10 never reach a handler**: eight POSTs return 403 (all five `passkeys.*` ceremony endpoints, `register/begin`, `register/finish`, `codes`) and two GETs return 303 from `RequireFresh`. Origin+form-body cleared `csrf.Protect`, which is what the fix addressed, but the *auth* gates were never considered. The gap lands exactly on the passkey screens — the ones ruling 21 carves out for script, i.e. the tempting place to add `unsafe-inline`, which is the scenario the test's own opening comment names. So both claims in the new comment are false as written: - `noscript_test.go:229` "EVERY route, not just one" — 13 of 23. - `noscript_test.go:251` "chi.Walk already hands the method over; **using it is the whole fix**" — it is half of it; the handlers still need a session (and a fresh one) to run. - Consequently `noscript_test.go:150`'s "`TestServedCSPAllowsNoInlineScript` is what guards that" does not hold for those routes either. **No state or ordering pollution.** Each test builds its own `App`, DB (`t.TempDir`) and mailer; `testapp_test.go:125` forces `LookupTXT` to error, so the sweep's `POST /signin` classifies offline and takes the magic-link path against its own mailer. `make test`, `-race -count=2` and `-shuffle=on` are all green (see 7). ## 4. `TestVerifyPageWritesNothing` — **FIXED**, with a real blind spot Mutant V (`UPDATE signin_links SET expires_at='2099-…'` on a non-empty token in `handleVerifyForm`): **FAILS**, printing the before/after diff on `expires_at`. **Missed (mutant V2, survives — test reports `ok`):** ```go a.db.Writer().Exec(`UPDATE signin_links SET sealed_address = X'00'`) a.db.Writer().Exec(`INSERT INTO passkey_recovery_codes (subject, code_hash) VALUES ('leak','x')`) ``` The snapshot selects only `token_hash, purpose, expires_at` — `sealed_address` is not read — and counts only `people`, `sessions`, `passkey_pending`. The DB also holds `passkey_credentials`, `passkey_recovery_codes`, `passkey_challenges` and `rastrillo_migrations`, none of which is snapshotted at all. And because the other three are *counted*, not compared, an in-place update (extending a session's expiry, rewriting `auth_time`) is invisible; in this test all three counts are 0 both times, so they assert only that they stay 0. NIT — a `sqlite_master`-driven full-table dump would close it without much code. ## 5. `TestFlowUsesBoundedHTTPClients` — **FIXED** - Remove `HTTP: http` from `newFlow`'s keymail builder → `keymail_test.go:187: the keymail client is unbounded`. - Remove `HTTP: http` from the `Classifier` literal → `keymail_test.go:180: the classifier has no HTTP client, so it uses an unbounded default`. Both compiled clean before running. **The stub's client is genuinely used.** `github.com/keymaildev/signin@v0.1.1/keymail.go:105` reads `k.HTTP` for the exchange and falls back to `&http.Client{Timeout: 15 * time.Second}` — so the commit message's "library's 15s default" is exact, and the stub's `HTTP: &http.Client{Timeout: classifierTimeout}` now carries the exchanges. (`RedirectPath` default `/auth/callback` confirmed at `keymail.go:36`.) Nothing asserts the *stub's* client is bounded — removing it leaves the suite green — but that is a fidelity fix, not a guarded property, and the comment doesn't claim otherwise. ## 6. Changed doc comments Verified true: the two `noscript_test.go` stated limits (30 entries under `ui/partials`, zero `<script>` in any of them, `ui.Templates()` is `fs.Sub(partialsFS, "partials")` so the three `layouts/*.html` that *do* carry `<script>` are excluded); the `TestVerifyPageDoesNotDistinguishTokens` timing note (`handleVerifyForm` is branch-free on the token); both `013331d` comments. **NIT — `signin.go:266-271`, `handleCallback`, third revision of this sentence.** "The one path that renders is a downstream failure inside completeSignIn (find-or-mint, or minting the session)". There are **three** render paths in `completeSignIn`: `findOrMintPerson` error (`signin.go:295`), **`a.passkeys.Gate` error (`signin.go:318`)**, and `sessions.SignIn` error (`signin.go:330`). The parenthetical reads as exhaustive and omits the Gate. **NIT — `noscript_test.go:248`, "the eight POST-only handlers never ran".** There are 10 POST routes and 7 POST-only *paths*; under the old GET-only sweep all 10 POST handlers were skipped (GET `/signin` ran `handleSigninForm`, not `handleSigninBegin`). Eight matches neither count. **NIT — `passkey.go:75-77`, "which was true for two commits and then was not".** Introduced at `903eb7b`, falsified at `d39fc86` — four commits later; it then stood falsely for two (`d39fc86`, `099582e`). The sentence inverts its own history. **NIT — `noscript_test.go:54-59`, `srcAttr`.** The regex changed (`\bsrc` → `(?:^|\s)src`) but the comment above it still explains only the quoting alternatives and says nothing about `data-src=`. The fix itself is correct — I confirmed leftmost-match now picks the real `src` out of `data-src="a" src="b"`. ## 7. Test runs ``` make test PASS (vet, build, ./... , -race -count=1) go test -race -count=2 ./internal/home/ ok 21.154s go test -count=1 -shuffle=on ./internal/home/ ok 5.282s ``` No flakes, no data races, no ordering sensitivity. --- ## Verdict: **CHANGES NEEDED** Two blocking items, both small: 1. `keymail_test.go:91` — the failure message re-asserts the "clearing makes it single-use" claim that the same function retracts. 2. The CSP sweep — 10 of 23 handlers still never execute because of the session/`RequireFresh` gates, proven by three surviving mutants in `handleRegenerateRecoveryCodes`, `handleRecoveryCodesPage` and `handlePasskeyEnrol`. Either drive the gated routes with a fresh session cookie, or stop the comment claiming "EVERY route" and "the whole fix" and state the gate as a limit. Items A, B (in `takePending`), C (for the named mutant), 4 and 5 are all confirmed fixed by mutation.</result> <usage><subagent_tokens>104884</subagent_tokens><tool_uses>45</tool_uses><duration_ms>441991</duration_ms></usage> </task-notification>

CSP sweep now carries a session — FIXED (mechanism), claim about coverage is FALSE All three mutants (`w.Header().Set("Content-Security-Policy", "…'unsafe-inline'")` at the top of the handler) compile clean (`go vet` OK) and now fail **both** tests: | mutant | `TestServedCSPAllowsNoInlineScript` | `TestNoHandlerSetsItsOwnCSP` | |---|---|---| | `handlePasskeyEnrol` | FAIL `/passkey/enrol` | FAIL `passkey.go` | | `handleRecoveryCodesPage` | FAIL `/passkey/codes` | FAIL `passkey.go` | | `handleRegenerateRecoveryCodes` | FAIL `/passkey/codes` | FAIL `passkey.go` | **How many of the 23 targets reach a handler: 23 of 23.** I did not infer this from status codes — I built the tree with a `replace` onto a local copy of rastrillo v0.22.0, set `X-Reached: <funcname>` as the first statement of every `*App.handle*` and every `passkey.Handlers` ceremony method, and logged it in the sweep. Every one of the 23 targets came back with a non-empty `X-Reached` (the four `/static/*`, `/healthz` and `/` are closures/`handleIndex` with a `_ *http.Request` signature the probe regex skipped; all returned 200, so they plainly ran). **The comment's list is neither true nor complete.** `noscript_test.go:264-267` says the three `signin/*` ceremony endpoints "still do not run here". They do run. Their 403 is written by `h.refuse(w)` *inside* the handler, after `h.pendingFrom(r)` misses — `passkey/passkey.go:255-266` (`SignInBegin`), `:275-280` (`SignInFinish`), `recovery.go:114` (`SignInRecovery`), `refuse` at `:589`. Nothing short-circuits ahead of them; `csrf.Protect` passes on every POST in the sweep. A CSP header set at the top of those handlers would be caught by the runtime sweep today. The second half of the sentence is false too: `TestNoHandlerSetsItsOwnCSP` does **not** cover those three. It globs `*.go` in `internal/home`; those routes bind `a.passkeys.SignInBegin/Finish/Recovery`, which live in rastrillo's `passkey` package and are never read by the glob. Same claim repeated verbatim at `noscript_test.go:403-406` and in the commit message. The honest justification for the source guard is routes added later, and handler code paths the sweep's canned request does not take — not "three endpoints the sweep cannot reach". ## 2. `TestNoHandlerSetsItsOwnCSP` — OK, with a real but low-cost evasion It does fail on any non-test `internal/home/*.go` mentioning the string (proven three times above), and `checked == 0` is guarded. The grep is **not** sound on its own. `w.Header()["Content-Security-Policy"] = …` still contains the literal, so that one is caught. But this compiles and evades it: ```go const hdr = "Content-Security" + "-Policy" w.Header()[hdr] = []string{"default-src 'self'; script-src 'self' 'unsafe-inline'"} ``` Verified: `TestNoHandlerSetsItsOwnCSP` **passes**, `TestServedCSPAllowsNoInlineScript` **fails**. `textproto.CanonicalMIMEHeaderKey` on a split constant would do the same. Given the runtime sweep reaches 23/23 routes, this barely matters — the grep is the belt, the sweep is the braces, and the braces hold. NIT only. Not covered by either test: a `<meta http-equiv="Content-Security-Policy">` in `templates/*.html`. `noscript_test.go` scans templates for `<script`, never for `http-equiv`. ## 3. `dumpDatabase` — FIXED The `UPDATE signin_links SET sealed_address = X'00'` mutant in `handleVerifyForm` now fails `TestVerifyPageWritesNothing`, with a readable before/after diff. Eight tables discovered from `sqlite_master`; empty tables emit a `== name` header, so an insert into one is visible — verified with an `INSERT INTO people` mutant (CAUGHT). Answering the specific questions: - **`ORDER BY 1` stability:** stable for every table *today*, and only by luck — the first column is the PRIMARY KEY in all eight (`people.person_ref`, `signin_links.token_hash`, `sessions.token_hash`, `passkey_credentials.id`, `passkey_challenges.challenge`, `passkey_pending.token_hash`, `passkey_recovery_codes.code_hash`, `rastrillo_migrations.id`). A future table whose first column ties gives an order SQLite does not guarantee — that is a flake risk, not a missed write. - **`sqlite_sequence`/internal tables:** `type='table'` would include `sqlite_sequence` if it existed; no schema uses AUTOINCREMENT, so it does not. Views, indexes and triggers are excluded. - **WAL:** no gap. The dump reads through `app.db.Writer()`, so WAL content is visible. **What it still misses** (each proven with a mutant in `handleVerifyForm`): - `CREATE INDEX IF NOT EXISTS zzz_probe ON people(created_at)` — MISSED (only `name` is read from `sqlite_master`, never `sql`; no DDL change is visible). - `PRAGMA user_version = 42` — MISSED. - Delete-every-row-and-reinsert-identical on `signin_links` (new rowids, rewritten WAL pages, `secure_delete` zeroing) — MISSED. `SELECT *` omits the rowid. None of these are the class of bug the test exists to catch. Worth one sentence in the comment; not worth code. ## 4. Session cookie in the sweep — OK, no pollution `newTestApp(t)` is per-test, so nothing leaks across tests. Within the sweep, the POST to `/passkey/codes` does not rotate the session — `/passkey/register/begin` still returns 200 afterwards. - `go test -race -count=2 ./internal/home/` → `ok 13.210s` - `go test -count=1 -shuffle=on ./internal/home/` ×2 → `ok 3.773s`, `ok 3.768s` - `go test -count=1 ./...` → all six packages ok ## 5. Prose Verified **correct**: - `keymail_test.go:91` — "so this browser will re-send it" no longer asserts replayability. Clean. - `signin.go` `handleCallback`, three render paths — accurate. `completeSignIn` has exactly three `a.signinFailed(w)` calls: `findOrMintPerson` (`signin.go:299`), `passkeys.Gate` error (`:323`), `sessions.SignIn` (`:332`). The `gated == true` branch is a redirect (`passkey/passkey.go:214`), not a render, so it correctly is not counted. - `passkey.go:74-77` history — accurate. `903eb7b` wrote "rather than the codes page's five" while `codesFreshness = 5 * time.Minute` (true when written); `d39fc86` redefined it to `enrolFreshness`; the sentence then stood false through `d39fc86` and `099582e` — two commits — until `3634208` corrected it. "True when written and stood falsely for two commits after" checks out. - `noscript_test.go:255-257` — "all ten POST handlers were skipped": there are exactly 10 POST routes. The commit message's "seven POST-only paths" is also exactly right. - `noscript_test.go:61-63` srcAttr — `\b` does match inside `data-src=` (`-` non-word, `s` word). Accurate. Verified **false**: - `noscript_test.go:264-267` and `:403-406` — the unreachable-routes claim. See item 1. Two places, plus the commit message. - `noscript_test.go:258-260` — "eight POSTs still 403'd on **csrf**/session gates … so **ten** of twenty-three handlers still never ran". I ran the same `X-Reached` probe against parent `013331d`. **Five** handlers never ran, not ten: `GET/POST /passkey/codes`, `GET /passkey/enrol`, `POST /passkey/register/begin`, `POST /passkey/register/finish` — all five short-circuited by `RequireFresh`. The other five 403s (`signin/begin`, `signin/finish`, `signin/recovery`, `stepup/begin`, `stepup/finish`) all reported `X-Reached`; they ran and refused from inside. So the sweep reached **18 of 23**, not 13. And **no** POST was stopped by csrf — `Origin` is set, as the comment ten lines below says itself. ## Findings **BLOCKING — 1.** `internal/home/noscript_test.go:264-267` and `:403-406`: the claim that `signin/begin`, `signin/finish` and `signin/recovery` "still do not run here" is false (probe-verified: all three enter their handler), and the claim that `TestNoHandlerSetsItsOwnCSP` "covers those by reading source" is false (they are in rastrillo's `passkey` package; the `*.go` glob never sees it). The commit message repeats both. This is the exact failure mode of the last three rounds: the fix landed, the sentence describing it did not. The sweep now reaches every route — say that, and justify the source guard on routes added later plus code paths the canned request misses. **BLOCKING — 2.** `internal/home/noscript_test.go:258-260`: "eight POSTs still 403'd on csrf/session gates … ten of twenty-three handlers still never ran" and the commit message's "reached 13 of 23". The true before-state is 18 of 23 reached, 5 never run, all five stopped by `RequireFresh`, none by csrf. **NIT.** `noscript_test.go:261-263` / commit message: "the gap landed exactly on the passkey screens, which are the ones ruling 21 lets load script." `scriptAllowed` names `passkey_confirm.html` and `passkey_enrol.html`. `passkey_confirm` was always reachable; two of the three gap handlers render `recovery_codes.html`, which loads no script. Only `enrol` is in both sets. "Exactly" overstates. **NIT.** `testapp_test.go` `dumpDatabase`: `ORDER BY 1` is deterministic only because every current table's first column is its primary key — worth naming, since the comment's whole argument is that a snapshot must not depend on the schema staying as it is. Blind spots worth one sentence: DDL, pragmas, rowids. **NIT.** The source grep is defeated by string concatenation (proven). Fine as defence in depth; not worth hardening. ## CHANGES NEEDED The code is right — all three CSP mutants die, the DB mutant dies, and the suite is clean under `-race -count=2` and `-shuffle=on`. What is wrong is prose, in the same way as the previous three rounds: two comments assert a coverage gap that the commit itself closed, and one of them names a test that demonstrably does not cover what it claims. Three sentence edits in `noscript_test.go` (lines 258-267, 403-406) and the corresponding commit-message paragraph, and this is done.</result> <usage><subagent_tokens>98320</subagent_tokens><tool_uses>46</tool_uses><duration_ms>466415</duration_ms></usage> </task-notification>
