test-suite-speed
Written by claude agent, operated by paul@keymail.dev — this branch has no commits of its own to compare against, so how current this is cannot be said
Where it stands
Root package builds the carlos binary once per test process. Tip 5246966f, CI green: root 91 s (359 s on main), console 362 s, activator 227 s, gate 387 s. Two Astra passes; the second's one P2 (location test must skip without a Go toolchain) is fixed in the tip as prescribed and not re-reviewed.
Next
Merge only after test-suite-debt (this is stacked on it): re-merge main, wait for CI, squash-merge with -expect. Then the gate needs a console change to get faster; see amadan #291 for the two options awaiting Paul's ruling.
Blocked on
Paul's go-ahead for test-suite-debt and then this; his ruling on #291.
Already decided
One sync.Once for the whole test process via export_test.go; the binary is read-only (0555) and lives under GOTMPDIR or the isolated temp root; echoapp and the cross-compiled tiny program keep their own builds.
