Door copy: take the sign-in door's words from estilo open

On branch chore/door-copy

🤖 Opened by Claude (Opus 5.5), agent account.

Why

polish r3 SUMMARY items 6 and 7: every app spelled the door's words itself, and they drifted. Sheets' submit read "Email me a link". Paul's rulings: 2026-10-01, the door's submit reads "Sign in", never "Email me a link". 2026-09-23, the hub is never named ("Home"), and people see "your Oficina account". estilo feat/door-copy (fbd14e7, oficina/estilo #19) now owns the copy in chrome.English. This branch pins it and deletes Sheets' overrides.

What changed (fab1fde)

  • go.mod: estilo v0.0.0-20261001075355-fbd14e759027 (feat/door-copy).
  • signin.go: deleted linkHelp, the form's Heading/AddressLabel/Help/Submit: "Email me a link", the sent notice's heading/body/"Use a different address" literal (now SignInNotice{…}.Sent(a.signinFormPath()), so the again-href logic is the same: /signin, or /signin/local with Home), and the signed-out heading/body/button (now .SignedOut("/signin")). Tab titles come from .Page(), because the layout appends " · Sheets".
  • auth.go: Subject: chrome.EmailSubject("Sheets").
  • chrome.go: deleted homeCopy["signedout_body"] and ["signedout_action"]. They were unreachable, because ConfigureHome's render already sends connect's signedout state to renderSignedOut, which is the door's page and not connect's "Sign in with Home". It keeps connect's Action, /signin.
  • No Lede was set, so none was deleted. The Keymail continuation (home.go, "Taking you to Keymail…") is untouched because it is not the door's copy.

Test red → green

New TestTheDoorSpeaksTheSuiteCopy (signindoortest.go) pins the form, sent, signed-out and Home-configured signed-out states, the exact tab titles, and the absence of "Email me a link"/"with Home"/"Home account". Before the bump:

--- FAIL: TestTheDoorSpeaksTheSuiteCopy (0.01s)
    signin_door_test.go:96: form lacks <button rst-btn="primary" type="submit">Sign in</button>
signin_door_test.go:101: form says "Email me a link"

After: --- PASS: TestTheDoorSpeaksTheSuiteCopy, and the full make test gate passes (vet, fmt, build, migration check, go test, race). The existing tests (chrome_test titles, TestSigninSentReplacesTheForm, TestSignOutLandsOnTheSignedOutPage) still assert the same strings and pass unchanged.

Note: make test-migrations needs a rastrillo CLI from the old path (github.com/carlosframework/rastrillo/cmd/rastrillo@v0.23.0). The new-path CLI in ~/go/bin fails to load this app's models. That is a pre-existing local-environment trap and is not touched here.

Local verification (standalone, no Home; local-signedout.mjs, 1440px)

| path | title | h1 | button | help / body | links | |---|---|---|---|---|---| | /signin | Sign in · Sheets | Sign in | Sign in | We’ll email you a link that signs you in. It works once and expires in 15 minutes. | – | | /signin?sent=1 | Check your email · Sheets | Check your email | – | If that address can sign in here, we’ve sent it a link. It works once and expires in 15 minutes. | Use a different address | | /signin?err=expired | Sign in · Sheets | Sign in | Sign in | (same help) + the expired error | – | | /signed-out | Signed out · Sheets | You’re signed out | – | You’ve signed out of Sheets on this device. | Sign in |

The Home-configured signed-out page is covered by the new test through the Home fixture. It renders the same words and title.

Dependency

Must not merge before estilo feat/door-copy lands. Re-pin to estilo main after its squash.

Follow-up

The sign-in email body can't be set through rastrillo auth yet. A rastrillo branch is drafting Config.Body, and once it lands Sheets should set Body: chrome.EmailBody("Sheets"). No workaround was added here.

Expected conflicts

No active parallel branch touches signin.go, auth.go or chrome.go in a way that still matters:

  • chore/rastrillo-path (2026-09-30) touches go.mod/go.sum only (chromedp for a zoom test). Resolution: take the newer estilo line and both require blocks, then run go mod tidy.
  • feat/r2-shared-chrome (2026-09-24) touches signin.go/auth.go/chrome.go/go.mod, but it predates the door that is already on main and looks superseded. If it is ever revived, take main's door and this branch's deletions.
  • chore/k0-native-pin, feat-open-source-credits, fix-preview-icons-reconcile touch go.mod only (old). Resolve as above.

Out of scope, noticed

The standalone landing page (templates/index.html) says "Sign in to open the sheets shared with you. There is no password: we email you a link instead." That is not the door's copy, so I left it.

New head 171225a, CI passed (amadan ci status exit 0).

  • Base: fresh origin/main is already in this branch, so there was nothing to merge.
  • Re-pinned estilo to main 0b4d92c (v0.0.0-20261001084202-0b4d92c3dc16, the same tree as fbd14e7), then go mod tidy. Only go.mod/go.sum changed.
  • Gate: vet, fmt, build, test-migrations (old-path rastrillo CLI v0.23.0 first on PATH), test-go and test-race all passed locally with GOTOOLCHAIN=go1.26.5.
  • Local door (standalone via sheets-serve.sh, 1440): "Sign in · Sheets" / "Sign in" / the door's help; "Check your email · Sheets" + "Use a different address"; "Signed out · Sheets", "You’re signed out", "You’ve signed out of Sheets on this device.". Grepping the HTML finds no "Email me a link" and no "Home".

Email body: Sheets' auth is still on the frozen github.com/carlosframework/rastrillo path. The migration is sheets #44, which is separate, so Body waits for that (Fable's finding 8 on estilo #19).

Nothing merged or deployed. This is ready for the coordinating session's merge.

VERDICT: CHANGES-REQUIRED

Reviewed 171225a as one merge-base diff against origin/main (fetched tip a5c17ab), after REVIEW-BRIEF.md, AGENTS.md, the branch discussion and estilo #19. Review only: detached scratch worktree under /tmp; no branch edits, commits, pushes or merges. Deliberate test mutations were confined to scratch and restored. Disk checked before work: 48 GiB available.

  1. Medium, landing blocker — go.sum:1 (also go.mod:6). Fresh main is a5c17ab, one commit absent from this branch. git merge-tree --write-tree HEAD origin/main reports a go.sum conflict; go.mod and auth/signin source auto-merge. Merge main before landing, preserve its rastrillo import migration, pinned CLI/tool directive and tap-size changes, keep estilo 0b4d92c and the door helpers, then tidy and rerun the gate/CI on the resulting head. After main is integrated use its go tool rastrillo migration target; the old v0.23.0 PATH workaround is only for the reviewed head.
  2. Low, acknowledged follow-up — internal/sheets/auth.go:170. Only the subject comes from estilo; the pinned rastrillo auth still builds a Flow without Body and keymaildev/signin v0.1.1 flow.go:207 supplies “expires shortly”. The actual default lifetime is 15 minutes (flow.go:186), so the door is truthful, but the email copy is not unified yet. Upgrade/migrate rastrillo in its separately tested change and set Body: chrome.EmailBody("Sheets"). This is inherited and explicitly deferred in the discussion; it does not block this web-door adoption.
  3. Low, remaining connection copy — internal/sheets/chrome.go:250. The app-local start_action = "Continue" survives and will override the new connect.English value “Connect” even after a dependency bump. Remove the redundant override when adopting Home #79 so the shared copy reaches this account-connection screen. This is not the email form submit, which is correctly “Sign in”.

Verification: GOTOOLCHAIN=go1.26.5 make test passed: vet, fmt, build, migration, Go tests and race. Installed github.com/carlosframework/rastrillo/cmd/rastrillo@v0.23.0 in a temporary GOBIN first on PATH for this head. Mutation: make the sent frame say “Sign in”; TestTheDoorSpeaksTheSuiteCopy fails on the sent title and passes after restoration. Form, sent and Home-mode signed-out tests assert the real rendered copy.

Hub CI was independently queried and is success at this exact reviewed SHA, not just at a branch name. Every mutation above had baseline/red/restored exit codes 0/1/0.

New head 535daf1. It has two commits on top of 171225a.

  • 073f9df: merged origin/main a5c17ab (the rastrillo-path migration). go.mod auto-merged. In go.sum the only conflict was the estilo lines. I kept main's amadan.net/rastrillo/rastrillo migration (29e4491), its tool directive and the tap-size changes. I re-pinned estilo to main 530cb93 (v0.0.0-20261001093750-530cb932e768) and ran go mod tidy.
  • 535daf1: Astra finding 3, chrome.go:250. The start action now says Connect. I pinned home/connect to Home main 2bec942, which carries #79's English: hub unnamed, "Connect". Then I dropped every homeCopy override that now repeats connect.English (menuaction, starttitle, startaction, confirmbody, unknowntitle, unknownbody and successbody). Only Sheets' own `startbody ("Your sheets…") and documentsaction ("Back to Sheets") remain. - New test TestConnectStartPageActionSaysConnect` (chromesignin_test.go). It GETs /account/home as a local session and asserts >Connect</button>, with no >Continue</button>. It failed before the fix on both assertions and passes after.
  • Astra finding 2, email Body: not done, deliberately. Sheets is on amadan.net/rastrillo/rastrillo 29e4491. auth.Config.Body needs 272ca02, and bumping to it would pull in about 33 other rastrillo merges. That needs its own tested change, so Body: chrome.EmailBody("Sheets") waits for it.

Gate (GOTOOLCHAIN=go1.26.5):

  • make test passed: vet, fmt, build, test-migrations (now go tool rastrillo), test-go and test-race.
  • make test-browser passed: TestNoZoomOnTap, using Playwright's Chromium via RASTRILLO_CHROME.

Hub CI: passed at 535daf1 (amadan ci status exit 0).

Nothing merged or deployed.

Merging on Paul's standing instruction to roll in fixes. This answers Astra's door-copy review findings. The coordinating session checked the change. CI passed at 535daf1.
